We have sit in single and double kayaks. Our double kayaks are RTM and made in France. Our single kayaks are Jackson Kayaks made in Tennessee. We do all sit in kayaks to ensure they are nice and stable for new kayakers. Along with that, all of our night tours are limited to double kayaks unless you have an odd number in your party then the odd man out will recieve their own personal kayak. We do this to ensure the safety of our guests and make it easy to keep track of everyone.
Should we worry about sharks and alligators
In the area we conduct our tours it is very uncommon to see sharks or alligators. We are around 45 miles north of ocean access so it is uncommon for sharks to make there way that far north. As far as alligators go, the water we paddle in is brackish. Alligators are fresh water animals so they dont like the salt in the water. However, there is an old saying in florida. If its wet, there are alligators. There are 1.5 million alligators in Florida so you never exclude them out of any body of water. The lagoon is not there home but we do see them occationally. Most alligators are very timid and pose no threat.
What should we bring?
On our day tours you should bring hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, snacks, towels, and anything else that might make your trip more comfortable. On our night tour bring bugspray, water, and long sleeve clothing.
Are there bathrooms?
On our day tours there will be bathrooms located in the main country club or pool area. On the night tours there will be no bathrooms open. Please use the restroom prior to arrival unless you want to use a bush!
What should you wear?
We reccomend wearing clothes as if you were about to go on a hike. You wont be getting very wet. Always bring clothes that would protect you from the sun or weather. If there is a chance of rain bring a rain jacket or windbreaker. Always check the weather before arrival. Closed toed shoes are reccomended but not required. On our night tours wear long sleeve clothing to defent against mosquitoes.
Can we swim?
We do not allow any swimming on our tours for there are alot of stingrays on the bottom and we dont want anyone to get hurt.
How deep is the water?
On average the water is only around 3.5 to 5 feet. The exception to that is when we paddle through boating channels it will be around 10- 15 feet. The boating channels are all no wake zones so you dont have to worry about boats speeding by.
What time of year is best for seeing manatees?
Manatees are in our lagoon all year. The best time to see them will be any time other than winter for some manatee migrate to warmer water. Dolphins are here all year and have an equal chance of seeing them regardless of the season.
